Marketing, Membership, and Events Coordinator – Job Description

Are you passionate about being a part of Black-owned business growth? Are you committed to amplifying Black voices communities? The Central San Diego Black Chamber of Commerce (CSDBCC) is hiring a Marketing Membership and Events Coordinator.

You will ensure the CSDBCC membership, events, and marketing efforts help us achieve our immediate and long-term organizational goals.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a sales & marketing, event planning or account management role. We are looking for someone who can successfully juggle multiple competing projects with tight deadlines and that has a passion for our non-profit mission.

At the CSDBCC we champion equity, inclusion, access and work closely with government organizations to ensure San Diego’s Black voice is heard.

Our Mission is to create generational wealth through business enterprise, education, employment, and investing. Our social impact focuses on:

  • Closing the economic and educational gap

Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

This position requires a creative multitasker with the ability to think outside the box. Your role will be split into different tasks:

  • Facilitating and directing membership initiatives, campaigns, and activities with a focus on member recruitment and retention.
  • Developing, executing and ensuring overall success of the CSDBCC virtual and in-person events throughout the year. (Networking events, Gala, webinars, and more).
  • Assisting the marketing manager with digital and traditional marketing duties like managing social media, mailing campaigns, copywriting and designing promotional materials.
  • Promote & Represent the CSDBCC in community activities, events, and within community organizations.
  • Providing awareness of the Chambers mission and developing sources for prospective members.
  • Nurture relationships with new and existing members, serving as their main point of contact throughout the year.
  • Prepare membership reports and presentations.
  • Provide regular and thorough reporting of membership data internally.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the membership database.
  • Explore potential membership markets and expand membership using data-driven strategies.
  • Create and implement: A membership referral campaign, a new member onboarding program.
  • And improve the member benefits program.
  • Develop and execute virtual and in-person networking events to connect members and the community at large.
  • Develop, promote and market CSBCC activities and programs to keep members informed, engaged, and empowered to support our mission.
  • Plan, organize and oversee a range of services and events for members.
  • With the support of the marketing manager, coordinate marketing strategies and tactics (including content calendar, social, email, and tracking, and reporting metrics).
  • Create marketing material for events as needed.
  • Stay updated on appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistency in messaging.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager and other team members to continually produce content for website, social media, email, and other channels.
  • Regularly report on KPI’s performance, including suggesting enhancements and recommendations that further drive efficiencies on multiple platforms such as Google Analytics, Google Adwords, etc.

Skills and Requirements

  • Knowledge of data analysis, reporting, and budgeting.
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite and project management software.
  • Detailed oriented with excellent organizational and written and oral communication skills.
  • An analytical mindset with great problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid understanding of marketing user experience principles.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with people, including interpersonal communication, customer service, and persuasion skills.
  • Experience working within content management systems and social platforms.
  • History of successfully hosting and coordinating events both in person and on a virtual platform.
  • Proven ability to manage details, and work efficiently and effectively.
  • Must have an ability to self start as well as be responsive and communicative with teammates.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload, often requiring rapid turnaround times.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary $50k-$60k DOE
  • $300 Monthly reimbursement to help cover medical insurance premiums
  • Flexible Work Hours

Program Manager – Job Description

The Central San Diego Black Chamber of Commerce is hiring a Program Manager to develop, oversee, coordinate and support educational programs to assist with business growth. Ultimately, you will ensure the CSDBCC program efforts help us achieve our immediate and long-term organizational goals.

We champion equity, inclusion, access and work closely with government organizations to ensure San Diego’s Black voice is heard. Our Mission is to create generational wealth through business enterprise, education, employment, and investing. Our social impact focuses on:

  • Closing the economic and educational gap
  • Fostering greater financial autonomy
  • Increasing college and high school graduation rates
  • Increasing participation in community involvement

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 + years of experience in a project or program management role, successfully juggling multiple projects and a passion for the CSDBCC non-profit mission.

Responsibilities and Duties Include and Are Not Limited To:

  • Manage complete project scope including scheduling, communication, quality control, and resource management.
  • Meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Lead internal and external project meetings including scheduling meetings, developing and distributing meeting agendas, maintaining meeting notes, and taking ownership of follow-up items.
  • Promptly and accurately communicate with Operations Director and CEO regarding work/project status.
  • Provide fundraising support to secure funding for program initiatives and strategies.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with program partners and other external clients.
  • Be responsible for the execution, quality, and results of your projects and the success of the resulting product in the market.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitaskto work on multiple competing projects simultaneously
  • Thorough understanding of standard project management best practices,including phases, techniques, and tools
  • Proficiency in project planning and trackin
  • Proven efficiency, precision, and flexibility
  • Must be a strong self starter as well as considerate and communicative with colleagues
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload, often requiring rapid turnaround times

Benefits and Compensation:

· $45k-$50k salary per year DOE
