Our San Diego region was hit by unprecedented rainfall and flooding over the last week - continuing into this weekend - which has led to hundreds of people being displaced from their homes, schools and businesses.

Here's the
latest updates on the impact of the emergency business relief fund that we launched last week to provide financial and technical assistance to the hardest hit areas. People were stranded on rooftops, cars washed away, pets trapped in homes, schools filled with water and businesses badly damaged.

The strength of a community is truly shown during times of crisis like this one. If you have the time to help or a dollar to give, please consider doing so. It's going to take us coming together, doing what we can, to help these families, schools and businesses get back on their feet.

Here are a few ways to help out:

DONATION & FUNDING

CSDBCC's Emergency Business Relief Fund

Matching donations up to $100,000 to assist small businesses in District 4.

CSDBCC's Flood Assistance Fund

We are providing funding ranging from $500 - $5,000.

FEMA's Disaster Assistance Improvement Program (DAIP)

On Monday, February 19, 2024, President Biden granted a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of California triggering the release of Federal funds. All money FEMA offers is tax-free and you must use it as required by your award letter. This may include renting another place to live, making home repairs, or for expenses to repair or replace personal property.

City of San Diego EDD Emergency Response Grant 

The City is providing grants for Small Businesses & Nonprofits up to $2,500 per applicant, with a 100% bonus (for a total of $5,000) for applicants located in the Promise Zone, Opportunity Zones, or Low-Moderate Income Census Tracts. EDD will be prioritizing businesses located in under-resourced communities and high-impact storm-affected areas for these grants. Eligible businesses and nonprofits are awarded funding based on a reimbursement basis for documented storm-related expenses incurred.

Matching donations up to $100,000.

Small Business Association - Physical Damage Loans

DRIVES, SHELTERS & BASIC SUPPLIES
The following locations will be providing shelter information, sandbags, basic supplies and showers: 

  1. Jackie Robinson Family YMCA is supporting community members impacted by the floods and hosting a pickup and drop-off site for supplies. Please see their list of resources.
  2. Balboa Activity Center is offering a temporary relief shelter, meals, showers, beds, and pets allowed. Located at 2111 Pan American Plaza.
  3. Lincoln High School - 4777 Imperial Ave
